a recent cover for Eugene Weekly, based on a story that politicians advocated for increasing drone testing in Oregon, and the fear of turning it into a video game. so I turned a drone into a retro arcade game, cause I've always loved how they look, good times.

the AD Todd Cooper was so cool to let me do the title design, that's a first, hopefully I didn't mess it up.

Popshot is a poetry & illustration magazine that pairs each poem written to a theme with an illustrator's interpretation, this issue's theme is Liberate, and here's my contribution to Steven Uttley's poem Pretence. thanks to Jacob Denno for the opportunity and the freedom on the project.

I've been working with the brilliant Norman Klein, culture critic and media historian, for the past couple of weeks, and it's been a great learning experience. I'm making 12 illustrations for his new book Imaginary 20th century, it's a pretty interesting read and comes with an astonishing archive of photographs and illustrations from the time period put together by Margo Bistis. we are doing something new with the way the book and the archive are presented, I'll follow up on that later. if you are still reading, this is the image for the first chapter, set in1893's Chicago world's fair, hopefully my illustration makes you interested in the book and the archive, you can check them out here.

last week I was pretty excited to find out that this piece I did was chosen to appear in the American Illustration 28 book. this image was done for my self-promotional postcard. it proved that ideas really can strike at any time, I think I was in the shower when this idea came to me. thanks to the AI28 jury for the encouragement.

here is a project I did for Bicycling & Mountain Bike magazine, the article gives you tips and advice on handling different stages of the fat-fighting process. Erin Benner is the art director, great to work with.

here is a illustration i just did for Eliza Magazine. it was for a article titled "Geo-ignorant ?" by Brett Walker; the 2007 Miss teen USA incident really brought up the serious fact of low geographic literacy of Americans. How are we going to educate people and avoid being "Americentric" is the question here.

After trying to branch out my art, I've been getting some pretty good results. thanks to David Tillinghast, the experiments I did really gave me some new perspectives on how to make art, and why do I make art.--- this is my reinterpretation of Manet's painting "olympia".

i've kind of hit a wall creativly the past month, as a result of trying to really push the content of my work. Edward Gorey once said in a interview "if a book is only what it seems to be about, then somehow the author has failed"... i guess it's the same thing comes to illustration and design. anyway, here is a new piece i did that is kind of a reflection of whatever i'm going through right now!
